Each device that has a network card or adapter has a unique
identifying number called a Media Access Control address. The MAC address
identifies each workstation, printer and device that connects to a network. All
MAC addresses follow a format that has been established by the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers, which sets the standards for network
devices. The network card contained in the Brother MFC-420CN has a MAC address
that you can see when you print out a network configuration report.
Solution
Power on your Brother MFC-420CN and verify that
it's online and ready to print.
Pressthe "Menu/Set" key, followed by the number "6" key.
Scroll through the menu using the arrow keys until
"Network Config" appears on the display. Press the
"Menu/Set" key. Alternatively, you can press the number "6"
key again to select the network configuration report.
Press
the "Black Start" key to print the report.
Locate the section labeled "MAC
Address" or "Ethernet Address" on the configuration report that
prints out. The format for the MAC address consists of six pairs of hexadecimal
